SSAAT is an independent society set up by the Department of Rural Development, Government of Telangana to conduct social audits of its flagship programme Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). SSAAT's mission is to minimise leakage and wastage of public funds and promote the empowerment of rural communities directly benefiting from government welfare schemes. SSAAT Telangana, has been set-up with a vision to uphold the concept of eternal vigilance by the people; actively facilitated by social activists and the state government acting in conjunction to achieve the same. SSAAT lends its technical skills and expertising helping programmes and governments both nationally and internationally. On the international platform, SSAAT has provided technical guidance to many programmes including Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Kenya and Refuse Collection and Sanitation(RCS) in South Africa.
